Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the popular variants of casino card games. The most exciting thing about blackjack is that player needs to have a combination of skills and luck in order to win a game.

Blackjack had its roots in a seventeenth century French game called "vingt-et-un". However the precise origin of the game still cannot be verified. Blackjack is thought to have descended from other alike French games but as the gambling games are built upon precise and well balanced calculations, this is very unlikely. Blackjack also had its existence in Russia where it was played by the rich and the poor alike. Some primitive forms of blackjack include the pontoon and aces. The English name "Blackjack" comes from the original French game where a played was rewarded to draw a Jack of spades and an Ace of spades as the first two cards. The first card to draw was Jack and spades is black, hence the name Blackjack. With the arrival of French migrants in America blackjack became a popular pastime in the United States. Professional gamblers realized soon that Blackjack is a wonderful playing field for manipulating the odds and bets Blackjack spread like wildfire throughout the casinos, momentarily winning the hearts and the minds of the players. Today, Blackjack is played everywhere around the globe. It is considered a classic in Canadian, European, Russian and American casinos all alike.

The winner in blackjack is determined by the number of points in a hand. The player with the maximum number of points in a hand wins the round. However a player cannot have more than 21 points asset is said to be a bust and the player looses. The numbered cards from 2 to 10 has total points equivalent to their face value and the queen and jack has ten points each. An ace's value is 11 unless this would cause the player to bust, in which case it is worth 1. A hand in which an ace's value is counted as 11 is called a soft hand, because it cannot be busted if the player draws another card. Blackjack in a casino involves each player playing against the dealer. If the player busts he loses, even if the dealer also busts. If both the player and the dealer have the same point value, it is called a "push", and neither player nor dealer wins the hand. A two-card hand of 21 is called a "blackjack" or a "natural", and is considered a winner’s the dealer has blackjack and the player doesn't, the player automatically loses. But if the player has blackjack and the dealer doesn't, the player wins. However If both the player and dealer have blackjack then it's a push. blackjack vocabulary include words like hit stands or double down. a hit refers to a player taking out another card and a double down means the player double the amount that is on bet. if the player takes the cards and makes them the first card in the new hand it is called split. when a player calls surrender it means that he gives half his bet to the winner of that round and starts a new hand.

There are more than a few blackjack variations which can be found in the casinos, each has its own set of rules, strategies and odds. For example in the European card game the dealer receives only one card, dealt face-up, and does not receive a second card (and thus does not check for blackjack) until players have acted. This means players loose not only their original bet, but also any additional money invested from splitting and doubling down . But in the Australian form of the game a player beaten by a dealer blackjack may keep all split and double bets and lose only the original bet, thus the game plays the same as it would if there were a hole card. Another game called Spanish 21 provides players with many liberal blackjack rules, such as doubling down any number of cards (with the option to 'rescue', or surrender only one wager to the house), payout bonuses for five or more card 21's, 6-7-8 21's, 7-7-7 21's, late surrender, and player blackjacks always winning and player 21's always winning, at the cost of having no 10 cards in the deck (though there are jacks, queens, and kings).

Some of the very famous strategies used by players to win game include
1. theory of card counting: The theory of card counting says that the card decks have "memory"; that is, under certain conditions and employing certain methodic, a player can tell whether the deck is favorable or unfavorable to him
2. Shuffling: this technique involves tracking groups of cards (aka slugs, clumps, packs) during the play of the shoe, following them through the shuffle and then playing and betting accordingly when those cards come into play from the new shoe. This technique, which is admittedly much more difficult than card counting and requires excellent eyesight and powers of visual estimation, has the additional benefit of fooling the casino people who are monitoring the player's actions and the count, since the shuffle tracker could be, at times, betting and/or playing opposite to how a straightforward card counter would.
3. basic strategy: This strategy determines when to hit and when to stand, and also determines when doubling down or splitting is the correct action. Basic strategy is based on the player's point total and the dealer's visible card. There are slight variations in basic strategy depending on the exact house rules.
